If you need to relabel a default magento feature or a 3rd party extension, the Inline Translation tool can be very useful. In this particular example, I have an extension that allows users to shop by brand, but I need all references of ‘brand’ replaced by ‘range’.
The Inline Translation tool is perfect for this, to find it navigate to: admin > system > configuration > developer.
From here, you’ll need to select the desired store view on witch the inline translation will be applied, then just enable inline translation for that desired store view:
If you now go to the front end of the website, or the admin area, you’ll see the text sections that you can changed have a red border, just click on the edit icon and supply the new text (don’t forget to tick the ‘Store view specific’ checkbox):
It’s quite useful to disable the cache whilst making these changes, so that you can see them taking effect without needing to manually clear cache within the Magento admin.
Any translations you add are stored in the shop_core_translate table.
